Casollalegno is a leading company in Italy for the production of pallets, wooden packaging, larch posts, and sawn timber for construction, with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
The certifications obtained ensure environmental care and CO₂ emissions reduction. The production of wooden pallets and packaging follows sustainable development principles, making the company highly competitive in a market increasingly focused on social responsibility.
The sawmill in Trentino integrates these values to achieve significant energy savings, actively contributing to the green economy.
Our photovoltaic system, made up of 1,020 solar panels with a total capacity of 438 kW, covers a significant portion of our sawmill’s energy needs and helps us reduce CO₂ emissions.
Every year, we process over 15,000 m³ of timber – a high-energy-demand activity that we approach with a strong commitment to sustainability.
Thanks to solar power, we prevent around 240,000 kg of CO₂ emissions annually – the equivalent of a car driving more than 1.5 million kilometers.
A fun fact? The energy we generate could supply around 150 Italian households each year.
Each kilowatt-hour (kWh) of solar energy produced saves about 450 grams of CO₂ compared to energy from fossil fuels in the Italian energy mix.
To put it simply: just 10 kWh – less than one day of sunshine for our system – saves over 4.5 kg of CO₂. That’s equal to the emissions from a 38 km car trip or the energy used by 3 LED bulbs running 24/7 for 10 days.
We also produce electricity and thermal energy through a biomass cogeneration system powered by wood chips derived from our own production waste. This setup consistently delivers 90 kW of electricity and 240 kW of thermal energy – mainly used for timber drying.
Casolla Legno has formalized its environmental commitment in a clear policy that guides every business decision – from sourcing PEFC-certified sustainable timber to repurposing waste for in-house energy production, using renewable sources, and optimizing logistics.
Our goal is clear: to minimize the environmental impact of our operations and continuously improve our performance, with the active involvement of our entire team.
