Casollalegno, a leader in the production of pallets and wooden packaging, has obtained PEFC certification for sustainable forest management. This certification is based on three key principles: compliance with European forest protection standards, regional or group-level application, and third-party independent inspections. It ensures that the raw material used originates exclusively from sustainably managed forests.

The IPPC has introduced the FAO’s ISPM-15 standard to prevent the spread of forest diseases through wooden packaging. The regulation requires that raw wood used for packaging intended for non-EU markets undergo certified phytosanitary treatment. The wood must reach a core temperature of 56°C for 30 minutes, with monitoring and certification before applying the IPPC/FAO marking. The Consorzio Servizi Legno e Sughero ensures the enforcement of the regulation and the approval of treatment facilities.
